This is the x-ray of a cat brought in to see us on Friday evening. The owner reported her cat had come home through the cat flap dragging his front leg, so she brought him straight down to get him checked out. Poor cat couldn’t bear any weight on his damaged limb, and on examination, we could see blood and a circular puncture wound which made us fear he had been shot. Very very sadly, x-rays confirmed the cat had been targeted with an air gun pellet, and the pellet had caused a nasty oblique fracture, splitting the humerus bone lengthwise. The fracture was so complicated that we had to send the cat to a local referral centre over the weekend. How anyone could do something so horrific is totally beyond us.
