Our Practice Manager Rachel is due to run the Lichfield 10k tomorrow in support of the Stafford Samaritans. However, 5km into her final training run on Wednesday, she felt a sharp stab of pain in her calf and unfortunately had to be collected and driven home. Despite icing her leg and using heat generating and pain-killing gels, she is still limping and is even unable to walk her dogs.
Rachel had very much hoped her leg would improve by Sunday, but was bitterly disappointed to have to make the decision this morning not to run in tomorrow’s 10k. She has collected over £500 for charity, and although she’s not fit to run tomorrow, she’ll be working hard to get back into shape to keep her promise to all her amazing sponsors by completing a different 10k race.
We’ll keep you posted on her progress: she’s already been looking at alternative races – possibly the ‘Tough 10k’ on Cannock Chase in November, or something slightly further afield if necessary. Watch this space.
In the meantime, we hope you get better soon!
