Meet Yogi! Last year, Yogi helped to save the lives of up to 20 other dogs. He’s not a police dog, a special forces dog or a rescue dog. He’s blood donor. Could your dog be like Yogi?
Today is World Blood Donor Day and Pet Blood Bank needs more dogs to come forward as lifesavers.
Just like humans, dogs have different blood types and DEA 1 Negative blood is in high demand. Dobermanns, like Yogi, are more likely to have this blood type, along with Airedales, American Bulldogs, Border Collies, Boxers, Dogue de Bordeaux, English Bull Terriers, Flat Coated Retrievers, German Shepherds, Greyhounds, Lurchers, Pointers, Old English Sheepdogs and Weimaraners.
We run regular donation sessions for Pet Blood Bank at 387 Vets. If you dog is fit and healthy, aged between 1 and 8, weighs over 25kg, and has never travelled abroad, please consider registering them as a donor. Visit Pet Blood Bank’s website to find out more.
