Sore eyes

This is 2 year old Hungarian Vizsla Matilda who has been in to see us this morning with very sore eyes. In cases like this, we check for corneal damage by placing flouroscein – a special luminous dye – into the eye and shining in blue light. This helps us to identify any corneal injury or ulceration, or locate any tiny foreign bodies that may be lodged in the eye and causing irritation.

Fortunately the dye showed that Matilda’s corneas were healthy, although she is being treated for conjunctivitis. We hope you feel better soon, Matilda.
