Spreading the love

This is Ava who came in to see us last week for a very special reason. Ava has been a Pets As Therapy dog for the past 7 years, bringing comfort, love, cuddles and smiles to poorly people and residents in care homes. To enable her to spread even more happiness, Ava recruited a new grown up to come in for assessment with our lead nurse Amy to become a registered PAT volunteer.

Pets As Therapy is a national charity that provides temperament-assessed, vaccinated Pets as Therapy dogs and cats to a whole range of establishments. These amazing pets visit hospitals, hospices, day centres, care homes, special needs schools and other venues, accompanied by a PAT registered volunteer, to provide companionship and light in people’s lives and a greater sense of calm and wellbeing.

Do you have a cat or dog who is great with people? Would you be interested in sharing their companionship with others in your local community? To find our more about Pets As Therapy or to register your pet with the charity, click here
