Today is World Mental Health Day

10th October is annual World Mental Health Day and a brilliant focus for raising issues around mental health and wellbeing. The charity Mind cite that 1 in 4 people in England will experience a mental health issue of some kind each year and that 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem in any given week. We’re especially conscious about team wellbeing as a vet practice, as the industry has a higher than average suicide rate, and we work in an environment that can be incredibly rewarding but can also be emotionally challenging.

At 387 Vets, we have a fabulous team who are very supportive of one another, and we have processes and procedures in place to make sure every team member has clarity around their responsibilities at work. We have wellbeing checklists to help us focus on ways to reduce in-practice stressors, regular team get-togethers, a courtyard garden to sit out in and enjoy the sunshine, access to wellbeing ideas and mindfulness activities, lots of yummy treats, and very importantly, lots of dog and cat cuddles on tap!

We absolutely appreciate that for owners, pets can be one of the best salves to help ease low mood. They provide us with wonderful companionship, can encourage us to exercise and have fun, they show us loyalty and love and give us purpose and joy.

Make sure you take time today, and every day, to give your pet an extra big cuddle or to spend special time together. You will both feel the benefit! Rest assured, any pets coming in for procedures will be getting lots of love from the 387 team too!
