We’re collecting

April is National Pet Month! This year, with so many people welcoming a new pet into their family over lockdown, the National Pet Month charity is focusing even more on education and supporting pet owning families. Check out National Pet Month’s Facebook page for loads of great information on the five key pet welfare needs – companionship, behaviour, diet, health and environment – and how we can best provide these as responsible pet owners.

Fundraising and support of animal charities is also a big part of National Pet Month. Given the awful current crisis, this year we’d love to help support Ukrainian pet owners and their pets. With this in mind, we’re collecting pet accessories and food on behalf of The Ukraine Dog and Cat Appeal, an initiative which is being coordinated by one of our clients. Jane and her work colleague have been collecting pet goods since the crisis first hit. Donations are being stored at a drop off centre in Tysley and from here, are being transported direct from Birmingham to the Ukraine. A load left just at the end of last month. Given the ongoing situation, the couple continue to collect and are planning another delivery to the Ukraine at the end of National Pet Month.

We have collection bins in practice. Donations of anything dog or cat related would be brilliant. This could be food, bedding, blankets, leads, collars, carriers, toys, groundsheets, bandages … anything you think would be useful to pet owners in need.

Collection bins will be in practice until 2nd May when National Pet Month officially finishes. We know your kindness will make a massive difference to Ukrainian pets and pet owners in such difficult times.
